1. INTRODUCTION AND COMMITMENT

  • Victimisation: treating someone unfavourably because they have made, supported, or are believed to have made a complaint or raised a concern under this Policy or the Equality Act 2010.
  • Discrimination by association: treating someone less favourably because of their association with a person who has a protected characteristic.
  • Perception discrimination: treating someone less favourably because they are perceived to have a protected characteristic.

3.2 The Organisation may be vicariously liable for acts of discrimination or harassment committed by its employees in the course of their employment under section 109 of the Equality Act 2010. This Policy, together with equality training, forms part of the Organisation's reasonable steps defence.

4. REASONABLE ADJUSTMENTS

4.1 The Organisation has a duty under section 20 of the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled employees and job applicants where a provision, criterion, practice, physical feature, or lack of auxiliary aid puts a disabled person at a substantial disadvantage.
