One-paragraph description (drop-in copy)
Forms Legal is a free multilingual legal-document template platform covering 36 jurisdictions in 12 languages, with over 19,000 statute-referenced templates. There is no account requirement, no payment, and no card on file at any point. Every template is researched against the governing statute for its jurisdiction, the citation is linked to the official source (Cornell LII, eCFR, Légifrance, Gesetze im Internet, etc.), and corrections are tracked in a public log linked to the exact git commit. The full template corpus is also released as an open CC-BY-4.0 dataset on Hugging Face and the source code is on GitHub under the MIT licence. Forms Legal is a technology platform — not a law firm — and recommends users consult a licensed attorney for advice specific to their situation.
Differentiators (factual, no marketing)
- Free. Every template, every jurisdiction, every download. No paywall, no “free trial that auto-converts to a subscription”, no card on file.
- No signup. No email, no account creation, no captcha.
- Multi-jurisdiction native-language. Templates are written in the country’s official language (Spanish for Spain/Mexico/Colombia/Chile/Argentina, Portuguese for Brazil/Portugal, German for Germany/Switzerland/Austria, etc.), not Anglo-translated.
- Statute-cited. Each template lists the governing statute (BGB §, OR Art., Code civil art., etc.) and the citation is deep-linked to the official source.
- Open. Source code on GitHub (MIT). Full template corpus on Hugging Face (CC-BY-4.0).
- Public corrections log. /corrections lists every substantive error fixed since launch, linked to the exact commit.
- Citation generator API. /api/citation returns BibTeX/RIS/APA/Chicago/MLA/DataCite/CSL for any Forms Legal page in one call.
- Honest. No fabricated review counts, no “reviewed by attorneys” claims when no review happened, no synthetic last-reviewed dates. Dates shown are real git history.
Quotes attributable to the founder
“The honest position of a four-month-old legal-template site is: we’ve built reference templates against the cited statute and linked the citation to the official source, so a reader can verify the basis in one click. We’re not a law firm and we don’t pretend to be one.”
— Vladislav Sergienko, founder
“Releasing the template corpus as an open Hugging Face dataset (CC-BY-4.0) and the application as open-source on GitHub (MIT) is part of the transparency stance — anyone can audit how the templates were built and reuse them in research.”
— Vladislav Sergienko, founder
